Due to the on-going shortage, high demand in pallets and the rising cost of lumber, our pallet costs will be increased effective May 1, 2022. The current pallet-exchange program will not be affected by this. The pallet increase applies to “Pallets Purchased” at Empire CFS Inc.

Effective May 1, 2022, the new container weight guidelines and structure for container overweight drayage are as follows:

Re: Chassis Rental Fee Increase
To: Our Valued Customers,
Due to the recent increase in chassis rental fees, Empire CFS Inc. will implement this increase to all our valued customers.
Effective May 1, 2022 Chassis Rental Fee will be increased to $40.00 per day.
▪ Containers picked up from Monday through Wednesday will be assessed a 4-day chassis rental fee.
▪ Containers picked up from Thursday through Saturday will be assessed a 6-day chassis rental fee.
▪ $130.00 ($65.00 Out/$65.00 In) Chassis Split Fee round-trip for containers out of Pier E/LBCT.
▪ $65.00 one-way chassis split when required (all other terminals).
Chassis Rental Fee will be billed to the Beneficiary Cargo Owner. Any special waivers or agreement with Steam Ship Lines will not be accepted or considered.
Any additional chassis rental fees incurred on Leave-On / Head-Load containers will be automatically deducted from the Leave-On Deposit fee.

Due to the on-going congestion at port and rail terminals and driver capacity across the country which heavily impacted our operating costs. Therefore, we will be making adjustments and implementing new rate changes effective Monday September 13, 2021.
Port Congestion Fee - $10.00 Per CBM/800 LBS ; Minimum $25.00
Overweight Container Drayage (Additional)
- 40’ – Over 50,000 LBS to 54,999 LBS Additional $100.00
- Over 55,000 LBS to 55,999 LBS Additional $150.00
- Over 56,000 LBS and above *Low-Boy Required* Additional $450.00

A recent and rapid increase in domestic and expedited intermodal volumes out of Southern California along with the challenges restoring labor availability to pre Covid-19 levels resulting in severe ramp congestion at BNSF's Los Angeles, and Commerce, CA facilities.
BNSF has also implemented ingate restrictions to limit the in-gate activity for every lane. In addition, the rail reservation system takes longer than usual to secure. Therefore, these closures and limitations have impacted delay on almost all IPI shipment and are expected to impact all IPI transit times. We are working diligently with both Rail and OTR to expedite our loads. Please be sure to check or track your cargo status online for latest status of your shipment.
